Sync to mp3 problems

Post by Chas Myers » Sun Jun 21, 2009 8:33 pm

I have a new drill file that is a continuation from the previous song. When I go in document options to sync to drill to the MP3 file, I select the music file but when I go to actually sync using the space bar, the music never plays. The MP3 file play fine by itself. I had a problem with one spot in the previous song when I would play back one set to set move, the music wouldn't play either. On that drill, the music works fine on all the other moves.

I need help!

This has happened to me a few times and the solution I found was to use an application called Audacity - import the mp3 into it and then simply export it to an mp3 with the default settings. (download the lame mp3 encoder....)

I know you may still come out with an mp3 that is identical to the one you already had, but give it a try and see if it works. It's what I've had to do a couple times. I don't know what did it, but it worked.

For the highest compatibility with 3D we suggest converting the mp3 file to a bitrate of 192kbps. This has been tested and confirmed to be the most compatible on the majority of machines. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

This might be a little overly tech oriented, but if the mp3 is at a variable bit rate, you will encounter all sorts of problems, particularly in any kind of playback that doesn't start at the beginning. Most likely, as mentioned earlier, bit rate will probably solve most if not all of your problems.

I too am having a problem in version 5 with mp3 files. I have used a range from 196k to 96k. I have found that if your whole count bar is not shown when your syncing with the space bar the music will glitch when it reaches the end of the shown scale. also when I try and play it back it skips.
