New to Drill Writing
Moderator:PywareTechSupport
I have never written a show before and am looking to learn about drill writing. I've seen some classes I can take, but they mostly say you need to have some experience before you take the class. I ordered Dan Ryder's "Techniques of Marching Band Show Designing" in hopes that I can start to learn. Are there any other resources out there?
Re: New to Drill Writing
There are some video tutorials at www.bandfo.com that are very useful for learning to write.

Re: New to Drill Writing
hey thanks. I'm aware of these videos. I know Craig Harms is like the Pyware man, but I've watched his free video samples and I get like low tech ADD. I know it's the new version of Pyware that I have and all, but he just used some Mac features and voice overs to make those videos and I just seem to space out and become disinterested. It's strange really. I guess I'll have to crack down and watch the real series.

Re: New to Drill Writing
It's not about "how" to use Pyware. It's about the show design process and the creativity of forms.
Re: New to Drill Writing
I would suggest Dan Ryder's Books.

Re: New to Drill Writing
Try this if you are brand new to everything. I still come back to it sometimes.

I enjoy charting military drills. Let me know if you need any assistance with one of them.

I have the First Dan Ryder Book. It's been two years since this original post and I'm in the same spot lol. You never have as much free time as you'd like.
